About Edwin Owusu

Edwin Owusu serves as the Head Coach of the Lawrence Debate Union, bringing a rich tapestry of experience from his journeys from Ghana, through the Bronx, to Vermont. His eclectic background spans competitive debate, teaching, and music, empowering him to guide others in honing their communication skills and uncovering the strength of their authentic voices. His mission is to transform communication practices, ensuring each speaker can confidently articulate and project their ideas.

With over two decades of coaching expertise, Edwin has achieved remarkable milestones, including three-time winning coach of The Social Justice Debates and recognition as a Cross Examination Debate Association Junior Varsity National Champion. His educational journey is fortified with a BA in Political Science and an MA in English, concentrating on Lacanian Psychoanalysis. Edwin's professional footprint extends to roles as a music instructor, workshop organizer, and network TV commentator, enriching his coaching with a broad perspective and practical insight into effective public communication.
